Statement of Faith

A Christian Community, not a church. Cuenca’s International Christian Community strives to be a community of Christian believers not a doctrinal or denominational church. Like any Christian church, we believe in the good news of Jesus Christ. Our common faith is founded in the Holy Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments and it’s major points, like for almost any Protestant church, are summarized in the Apostle’s Creed.

We believe God is known most fully through a personal relationship with the indwelling Spirit of Jesus, the Christ. However unlike a typical Christian church, we have no other doctrines beyond this.

We also believe, unlike a typical Non-Denominational church, that God has called us to manifest the Divine presence in our world, not just in a church. We do this through acts of love, worship, prayer and outreach in which we support one another, and seek to meet the needs, both physical and spiritual, of all those we encounter daily.

Most of all, we are an open community. We judge no one as evil or good for we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Unlike a doctrinal church, we do not try to force our personal beliefs or interpretations of Scripture on anyone. Instead we welcome all who seek to know God through Christ in whatever church tradition speaks to their hearts, for we truly believe we are all one in the Spirit of God’s eternal love.

The Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
