The International Christian Community is blessed to have a Music Leadership Team made up of professional musicians with vast experience, both in the church, and as educators and performers. Additionally our Choir has a number of active participants with both vocal and instrumental experience in churches over the years.
Together we seek to combine all of these gifts in a musical community that honors each other and glorifies the One we worship and serve.
How you can participate:
- Join our International Christian Community Choir: We normally rehearse on Wednesday at 4:00PM at the church. All we ask is that you love to sing and seek to glorify God (To confirm the time and place please check our church calendar tab on the home page)
- Come on Sunday to worship with us an help us sing the beautiful hymns and choruses of the faith we share.
- If you play an instrument join our instrumentalist group as we support our Choir and congregational singing.
Our Music Leadership Team
Sheila moved to Cuenca permanently in August of 2014, though she had been assisting with music at the International Christian Community since September of the previous year. She has a background in piano, the modern lyre, instrumental and vocal music therapy, and has been a music teacher for her whole adult life. She continues to maintain her active involvement as an adult educator and mentor in the States, where she serves on boards for 3 national music organizations. She loves her new life in Cuenca, where she is pleased to be able to offer her support for the vibrant musical life of the ICC, and where she also serves as the accompanist for the Cuenca International Chorale.
Noel completed a 42 year career as a college music teacher, and many years of experience as a church musician (pianist, organist, choir director). They currently divide their retirement living between Rochester, NY and Cuenca, and were active in founding and now serving ICC.
David has performed and produced music in North Carolina since 1985, and has lived in Cuenca since May, 2015 with his husband, Calvin. In the Charlotte, NC region, David was Director of Music Ministries for All Saints Episcopal Church (2009-2015), Music Co-Chair for the annual Citywide Interfaith Thanksgiving Service and International Day of Peace, and Music Team Leader for Episcopal Cursillo weekends, and national conferences (2012, 2014).
In Cuenca, David sings with the Cuenca International Chorale, and has been Sound Engineer for Greater Tuna (Azuay Community Theater- 2015), and The Red Horse (Fishbon del Sur- 2015). David studied piano at National Academy of the Arts (Champaign, IL) with Claude Hopson and Daisy de Luca Jaffe, and at University of North Carolina School of the Arts (Winston-Salem, NC) with Eric Larsen. Calvin and David enjoy studying Spanish and Cuenca’s sights and sounds with Trooper and Garner, their furry housemates.
